Recently named one of the twenty-four top beauty surgeons in the United States by the magazine Harper’s Bazaar, Dr. Jennifer Walden certainly lives up to all of the hype in her professional life. She has become a leader in her field by training under the very best cosmetic surgeons in New York City. She went on to start a highly successful practice in a Manhattan location, then she moves back to her hometown in Texas. Dr. Jennifer Walden is one of the only women that have been on the board of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. She continues to serve the ASAPS as well as writing, winning awards as a plastic surgeon, appearing on television and magazines and taking care of her two children. She also has a close family with a mom she respects and siblings that have all achieved success in their own work fields.
Dr. Walden has brains, beauty and success and some would consider this to mean she is an intimidating force to be reckoned with. This couldn’t be further from the truth. She’s actually a very friendly and confident person. In part her friendly and calmly confident manner, paired with lots of hard work has made her what she is today.
Dr. Jennifer Walden grew up in Austin, Texas and was raised by her dentist father and her nurse mother. She had five siblings and they were all encouraged to work hard on their educational achievements. Her mother she has claimed is her personal hero and role model.
Her education at the University of Texas where she received her bachelor’s degree and her experiences at medical school, the plastic surgery program at UT Galveston and her post-residency at the Manhatten Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital really gave her the edge to become the great plastic surgeon that she is today. She started her own practice in Manhatten in association with her mentor Sherrell Aston who has been in practice as a plastic surgeon for thirty years.
Due to her focus on her education Dr. Walden didn’t really think much about dating, marriage or children in her twenties and thirties. In her late thirties she realized that she wanted to have children. She has quipped that she had about one egg, or well two eggs left. She chose to do in-vitro fertilization because she didn’t have any men in her life she wanted to marry. Her two sons were born in 2010 in November. After their birth she decided she wished to raise them near her family in Texas.
Moving to Texas resulted in her having to rebuild her practice from the ground up and reaching out to clients in the Texas area. With the help of her mom and nannies Dr. Walden was able to balance out her work life and family life to rebuild her practice.
Dr. Walden’s philosophy is that she is a doer. She cares about her family nad her work. Dr. Walden hopes that by being such a focused woman she is an inspiration to other women who want to be in business or medical careers.
